VIFF Immersed Volumetric Market

SUBMIT DEADLINE 10 August
Only one week left to submit your projects to the VIFF Immersed Volumetric Market, a virtual event bringing together leaders in art, tech, and entertainment to discover the best in volumetric filmmaking. Presented by the Vancouver International Film Festival and produced by Kaleidoscope, the market will feature talks, networking, and a selection of sixteen volumetric films available to fund and distribute.

The Creative Challenge Grant
SUBMIT DEADLINE 31 August
$736 monthly grant with a $2,500 goal
FOR DIY PROJECTS – The Creative Challenge Grant awards a monthly cash prize to emerging artists for the production of new work that can be completed within three months of receiving the grant.
All formats, genres, and categories of projects will be considered, including video art, visual art, films, games, apps, dance, architecture, sculpture, craft, textiles, VR/AR projects and more.
!!!The only requisite is the project must have a budget less than $5,000 and be completed within three months.

Femme Futures Grant
SUBMIT DEADLINE Aug 31
$301 monthly grant with a $2,000 goal
FOR FEMALE XR ARTISTS – Created to support women in XR, The Femme Futures Grant awards a monthly cash prize to the best XR project currently in development by a female artist. All formats, genres, and categories of immersive projects will be considered including XR films, games, apps, art, entertainment, and more.
The only hard requirement is that the lead creator of the winning project must identify as a woman.

Premium VR Grant
SUBMIT DEADLINE Aug 31
$841 monthly grant with a $2,500 goal
FOR PREMIUM VR FILMS – Presented by AmazeVR, the Premium VR Grant awards a monthly cash prize to the best completed VR film available for or already in distribution on consumer VR platforms. Whether it’s live-action, animation, fiction, or documentary, the Premium VR Grant supports projects with the potential to help push VR into the mainstream.
If selected, grant recipients will have the opportunity to present to Kaleidoscope’s international network of creators, producers and distributors in the XR industry.

Transformations Grant

$841 monthly grant with a $2,000 goal
FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS – The Transformations Grant awards a monthly cash prize to projects that explore possible futures of the performing arts. Any project that explores the future of live performance’ engagement with creative technology are encouraged to apply.
All performance genres, and categories of immersive projects will be considered including films, games, apps, augmented reality, virtual reality, and mixed reality.
The funds should be used to push your project forward in a meaningful way such as developing a polished pitch deck, hiring a concept artist, creating a prototype, or offsetting production costs.

FOR BLACK ARTISTS – The Black Realities Grant is a response to the ongoing state violence and murder of Black people. The Grant awards a monthly cash prize to media projects that explore the varied conditions, experiences, feelings, and range of humanity of the Black global community.
All formats, genres, and categories of screen-based projects will be considered including films, TV, games, apps, VR/AR experiences, photojournalism, and more.

Activist Lens Grant

$500 monthly grant with a $1,000 goal
FOR DOCUMENTARY PROJECTS – The Activist Lens Grant awards a monthly cash prize to documentary projects that capture injustices in “real time.”
All formats, genres, and categories of documentary projects will be considered including films, video series, interactive apps, 360 VR docs, podcasts, photojournalism, and more.
Funding and other resources awarded to these projects is intended to give local creators the support to best capture, represent, and share injustices in a critical moment so that they become documents of public record.

Miramar Creative Centre Grant

$1,000 monthly grant with a $2,000 goal
FOR NEW ZEALAND ARTISTS – The Miramar Creative Centre Grant awards a monthly cash prize to the best project created utilizing creative technologies and produced by a New Zealand artist.
All genres, categories, and formats of screen-based projects will be considered including films, games, apps, augmented reality, virtual reality, and mixed reality.
The funds should be used to push your project forward in a meaningful way such as developing a polished pitch deck, hiring a concept artist, creating a prototype, or offsetting production costs.

NOTE: Kaleidoscope Grants are community funded and require an Ally Membership or above to submit projects, however, in this challenging moment, artists may email hello@kaleidoscope.fund with a request for free membership.

Kaleidoscope has helped creators raise more than $28MM for original projects including the first seven-figure deal for a VR film at Sundance. With a commitment to creative exploration, Kaleidoscope has produced some of the industry’s most groundbreaking work including the animated VR film BATTLESCAR, starring Rosario Dawson, and the VR series SPHERES, starring Jessica Chastain and Patti Smith and executive produced by Darren Aronofsky.
