SIGGRAPH Asia – Submission deadlines

SIGGRAPH Asia will be heading to Sydney for its 2023 conference and exhibition between 12-15 December, bringing together the world’s most respected technical and creative minds, and further building New South Wales’ position as a leading global knowledge hub for creative industries.

Globally, there is a need to increase participation of youths, women, first peoples and people from diverse backgrounds, to study and develop skills in science, technology, engineering, arts, and design. Hosting SIGGRAPH Asia in Sydney will also provide the platform to launch new initiatives which help to scale and grow the local industry and spark interest amongst new audiences in this part of the world…

XR - Submission Deadline: 19 June 2023, 23:59 AoE

We are looking for the latest research and development in XR to be showcased at the SIGGRAPH Asia 2023 XR Program. This includes state-of-the-art solutions for interactive technologies, immersive installations and experiences, storytelling, new approaches for creative expression, novel displays, and collaboration within VR, AR, and MR Environments.
New this year: We are also interested in XR Theater submissions, which are immersive cinematic and storytelling experiences that can be viewed in a VR display theater-like setting. In this case, the focus is on the quality of the content rather than novelty in interactivity or research.

The SIGGRAPH Asia XR program offers a highly visible and interactive venue to present the latest in XR, emerging, digital media, and interactive technologies. If you are doing anything innovative in the XR space, we would love to show your work at SIGGRAPH Asia 2023. We are looking forward to receiving your demonstration submissions!

Art Gallery Theme: In Unruly Times – Submission Deadline: 19 June 2023, 23:59 AoE

This year, the Art Gallery is interested in submissions that engage and interweave art, science, technology, society and environment. It is designed to be inclusive and encouraging of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary works. The gallery will showcase works of excellence across the fields of art, science and technology inclusive of data visualisation, 3D printing, XR, robotics, AI, sonic, performative, NFT and media/interactive installation.

We are particularly interested in works that question, play or confront the unruly turbulent times in which we live. Unruly as found in wild, disorderly, experimental, uncontrollable as well as those freefalling out of control anxious moments spanning conflict, climate crisis, pandemics, inequality, surveillance, financial and biosystem collapse for instance. Times as in deep time, digital time, analogue time, circular, ancestral, mechanical, felt time or as a finite resource. These are times that call for an increasing need for practices to be sustainable, kinder, agile and scalable and more inclusive of divergent voices and bodies and experimental unexpected processes.

The theme of the SIGGRAPH Asia 2023 Art Gallery invites works designed to have a physical experiential installation. Submissions will be accepted by non-traditional art gallery practitioners and the curatorial team will assist with the design of the display of accepted materials.

Emerging Technologies Theme: “IN(TER)VENTION” – Submission Deadline: 19 June 2023, 23:59 AoE

Emerging Technologies is the premier arena to demonstrate novel interactive technologies to a large audience, inspire, be amazed, and experience the future. SIGGRAPH Asia 2023 Emerging Technologies program is planned to take place with the theme: “IN(TER)VENTION.”

Making working and experiential prototypes is a crucial step towards novel technological innovations. Therefore, the Emerging Technologies program plays a vital role within SIGGRAPH and SIGGRAPH Asia in driving the development of research communities and to make a great impact on the public.
At SIGGRAPH Asia, we are looking for submissions that use novel interactive technologies that have possibilities to bring benefits, usefulness, or comfort into our future lives.
