Alter-Ciné Foundation Documentary Film Grants
Deadline: AUGUST 15, 2023

The Alter-Cine Foundation documentary film grant is aimed at young video and filmmakers born and living in Africa, Asia or Latin America who want to direct a film in the language of their choice that respects the aims of the Foundation, as explained above.

12th Cartoons Underground
Deadline: August 15th, 2023

Cartoons Underground (CU) is Singapore’s premiere and largest animation film festival, dedicated to showcasing the best award-winning international and local animation works
– The festival accepts short films that applied animation techniques.
– Films should not exceed the 30-minute mark.
– Films should be completed after January 1, 2020.
– Singapore students can send their films for the Singapore Student Animation section.
– Films should have English subtitles.

Werner Fenz Grant for Art in Public Space (Austria)
Deadline: August 15, 2023

The grant is designed to promote art that gives a critical impetus to public space and social change, art that ‘assumes social responsibility’ (Werner Fenz) and seeks to engage citizens.
Projects can deal with economic, political, social, ecological, architectural, or urban development issues. They should contribute to the discourse on current forms of art in public space and address the sociopolitical context of the city of Graz and the province of Styria.
The grant award is 17,000 EUR, of which 12,000 are dedicated to the realisation of the artwork and 5000 to the artist’s fee.

34th San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival
Deadline: August 15, 2023

The San Sebastián Horror and Fantasy Film Festival took its first steps in 1990. Ever since its beginnings, the Festival has endeavored to fashion a programme offering something for every kind of spectator. Horror movies, sci-fi, animation, shorts, classics from all over the world… have alternated the length and breadth of its history with shows, exhibitions, concerts and various other activities.
Requirements:
1) Films completed after: 2022-01-01
2) Maximum duration: 30 min
3) Country of production: Any country
4) Screening format: DCP
5) Accepted genres: Horror, Fantastic (fiction, documentary, experimental)

K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg: Residency Programme for Choreographers
Deadline: August 15, 2023

The goal of the residency is to develop and strengthen the connections between choreographic practice, research, artistic production, and qualification. The length of eight months should provide sufficient time and space for overcoming conventional rhythms of production and open up space for exchange with other artists and interested parties in order to receive new impulses and contacts. Over the course of the residency the three choreographers will each develop a full-length piece that is presented at the end of the residency on three evenings.

S+T+ARTS: Art, Science and the Digital, ‘Unleashing Creativity for European Water Management’
Deadline: August 16th, 2023

The main premise of this call is that a joint approach, combining digital with the arts will help induce behavioural changes by pooling the capacities of the arts and the digital to induce changes in our mindsets, or in a business, on a societal and on an individual level.
An eligible consortium must have at least six partners from at least four different member States. The funders expect to grant one project a maximum of 2,000,000 EUR.

Malta Biennale: Call for Artists
DEADLINE: 25 AUGUST

maltabiennale.art 2024 will be held in Malta. Notably, an island that has been challenged in finding its place in existing histories of contemporary Western and non-Western art due to its periods of colonisation and location; that is, being located in the centre of the Mediterranean and on the periphery of Europe.
Open call is intended for both local and international artists, curators, curatorial teams, project managers, etc., wishing to present projects in accordance with the theme of this year’s Biennale, ‘white sea olive groves’.
The maximum eligible amount per project is 13,000 EUR.

12th DC South Asian Film Festival
Deadline: August 31st, 2023

The Washington DC South Asian Film Festival (DCSAFF) is a 501 (c) (3) Not for Profit Organization and is one of the most celebrated screen events on the Washington, D.C. cultural calendar. The festival takes place annually in the heart of America’s capitol, showcasing the best in alternative cinema from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, and Sri Lanka. Eligibility:
– Films must be from the South Asian Diaspora with a unique voice, message and creative appeal.
– Films must feature the work of filmmakers of South Asian descent living inside or outside the subcontinent
– Films made by Non-South Asian filmmakers must feature significant South Asian content.
– Films must have completed post production by August 2023.
– The festival accepts feature films (with a maximum duration of 140 minutes), short films (under 30 minutes), Smart Phone short films (under 12 minutes), and documentary (under 60 minutes).
– Non-English language films must be subtitled in English.
– The festival gives priority to North American Premieres.
– Films that are available on Amazon Prime, Netflix, Apple TV, YouTube or any other online platform will not be accepted.

The 29th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival organized by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal is scheduled to be held between 5 – 12 December, 2023 in Kolkata, the cultural capital of the State. Accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers’ Association or FIAPF in short, 29th KIFF promises to be more exciting, appealing and satisfying to the cine lovers as they will continue to feel the charm of world class cinema in the City of Joy.
– Films must be fiction-feature films (over 60 minutes).
– The festival only accepts short films (fictions under 30 minutes and documentaries under 60 minutes) from India.
– Films must have been produced between October 1, 2022 until August 31, 2023.
– The film which has not been theatrically released (commercially, on video/DVD/telecast/internet/VOD) in India.
– Asian, World and International Premiere will get preference, but films must be an Indian premiere.
– Short Films must be Indian Premiere.
– All films in the competition will be screened at the Festival in their original versions, with English subtitles.

Call for Composers to Create a Sustainable Opera
Deadline: September 15th, 2023

open call Project Butterfly is looking for music composers to work on the brand-new sustainable opera. Three composers will be selected to write a three-act opera, in Italian, Polish and Finnish, dedicated to the theme of environmental sustainability. The opera is to be commissioned by Teatro Comunale di Modena (Italy), Opera Bałtycka, (Gdansk, Poland) and Opera Box (Helsinki, Finland).
Applicants must be legal residents in any of the countries participating in the Creative Europe Programme. Each composer will receive a 11,000 EUR gross fee. Travel and accommodation for the two residencies is also covered.
