Yann Nguema – Gravity

by paradoxig

The Gravity project, imagined for the collegiate church of Saint-Martin in Angers, is a kinetic sculpture augmented by light, image projection and sound. It uses the wind produced by fans to set in motion very fine, light silk drapes within the collegiate church. He was inspired by the work and research of Daniel Wurtzel, an artist who pioneered the use of air to create kinetic sculptures.

The idea is to extend and modernize his research, using digital tools to augment the silk drape, which will be seen as a screen. Written for the dimensions of the Collégiale’s interior space, the Murmures installation consists of 5 similar modules placed on either side of the transept in the main aisle. It offers a general viewpoint at either end, but also allows visitors to wander between and around the 5 modules.
