From caravans to rulotes, from carnival markets to royal palaces or to the huge stages in metropolis and festival tours embracing the cosmopolitan lifestyle…. till virtual productions artistic works.
Artists always traveled – even before the Renaissance, artists toured to show their shows or to get inspired; musicians, performers, circus and theater groups or painters went from cities to cities and country to country. Modern times witnessed artistic performances in big cities with incredible stages and shows and artists performing all across the globe.
And with the new technology, maybe, it is time to reimagine traveling. And the virtual/digital contemporary dance company Cie Gilles Jobin proposed a new solution: #tourwithouttraveling. Using virtual production and motion capture systems to harness the movement of dancers, the show performed in Geneva’s studio is presented across the globe LIVE and in Real-Time
Cosmogony is a LIVE digital show danced under motion capture from our #Studios44Mocaplab in Geneva broadcasts LIVE internationally in REAL TIME. Cosmogony’s 6 members crew are “touring without traveling” saving approx. 100 tons of carbon emissions on flights.
Since 2021, Cosmogony has been showcased across the world in 10 cities, 8 countries, 3 continents – (at least till now) – in an amazing #tourwithouttravelling. Cosmogony was created for the SIFA in Singapore, projected on a live building in Bucharest for the BIDFF festival and invited to the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. And if you did not see it till now, you still have some time left also in 2023, as in June it will be at Chaillot Théâtre National de la Danse in Paris.
