The Open Rehearsal welcomes artists from various performance practices such as (but not limited to): architecture, scenography, dance, music, theatre, visual arts. We encourage artists searching for a rehearsal structure to apply, regardless of their level of experience, age, and educational trajectory
The first iteration of the Open Rehearsal will focus on embodied temporalities in performance. It will consist of three consecutive cycles each spanning six months

Artist in Residence Program of EPFL College of Humanities
ENTER THE HYPER-SCIENTIFIC
Deadline: 29 November 2021

The EPFL-CDH AiR Program is open to emerging and established Swiss and international artists interested in the area where arts, science, media, and technology intersect. The program allows invited artists to develop interdisciplinary projects and carry out their research in conjunction with scientists and the PhD and masters students at EPFL.
At the end of each residency, the resulting project will be presented in a public exhibition or event held at EPFL Pavilions, Amplifiers for Art Science and Society.
the residency should extend over a maximum duration of four months and the project should be realized within a maximum budget of CHF 15,000.

La Fabrique Cinéma de l’Institut français at the Festival de Cannes 2022 (14th edition)

La Fabrique Cinéma programme has been developed in close association with the Festival de Cannes and the Marché du Film. Ten projects in development (1st or 2nd feature film) are selected and invited to Cannes. The aim is to create concrete opportunities for these projects by providing access to different activities and personalized support through one-to-one and group meetings with key players in the film industry.
Eligible countries in the ASEM region are: Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam.

19TH ANNUAL PHOTO CONTEST
Smithsonian Magazine

Smithsonian Magazine is calling for entries to its 19th Annual Photo Contest, open to all photographers who are 18 years old or older.
Award-winning photographs can range from a captivating portrait of a family member to a moon-drenched landscape to movement captured at just the right time. Smithsonian is looking for the best of the best.
Eight prizes will be awarded in spring 2022, including a Grand Prize of $2,500, six category prizes of $500 each and a Reader’s Choice award of $500.
The following six contest categories are drawn from subjects of special interest to Smithsonian magazine:

GRANTS FOR ART & SCIENCE

Da Vinci Labs will be a multi-disciplinary research centre, harmoniously and artistically integrated with its surroundings in the Touraine region of France, which combines three residential blocks and three non-residential laboratories in an avant-garde sustainable complex. This project aims to reconcile technological innovation with sustainable development by creating physical spaces allowing all stakeholders (citizens, entrepreneurs, researchers, industrial and decision-makers) to experiment with technologies that can address the major societal problems of our era.
In the spirit of its founding philosophy, Da Vinci Labs is launching LEONARDO REBOOTED, a grant to support the production of Art & Science projects. Aimed to artists and artistic collectives who produce ground-breaking artworks at the intersection of Art and Science.
The selected proposal in each of the two categories will receive a total sum of €5,000 (split in two payments)

The SPACE Programme 2022

This latest edition of The Performance Corporation’s collaborative artists residency will focus on the crossover between Arts and Immersive Technology, such as Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality. SPACE offers artists and immersive tech creatives, from a wide variety of backgrounds, the opportunity to work collaboratively and experiment with new forms and ideas.

2022 Poet-in-Residence: Public Engagement

The goal of the Poet-in-Residence’s programming is to create enriching experiences with poetry for the public that will intersect with museum initiatives, architecture, and exhibitions, and may include, but are not limited to, poetry or spoken word reading events, social media initiatives, activations of the interactive poetry hub in the Aye Simon Reading Room, programming in the museum galleries, and poetry workshops for youth audiences. The residency will run from late January to December of 2022 and offers a $20,000 honorarium from the Guggenheim Museum, and one or more features in Academy of American Poets’s publications.

Guerilla Underground Call for Videos

Presented by Guerilla Opera, the Guerilla Underground is a virtual performance series that features new music and opera theater that explores what is “operatic” and can include of encore broadcasts from live performances, new works interpreted through the mediums of film, video and animation, invigorating musical concerts from the Guerilla All-Stars, previews of works in development for both stage and screen, and guest artists selected from an online competition.

OUTDOOR INSTALLATIONS/ INTERVENTIONS CALL

The residency will take place in the summer of 2022. The residency lasts for 3 weeks.
Call are open to all artists from around the world. Selected projects receive an artist fee of €2000 and a travel grant. The average budget per project is €5000. The production will be assisted by organizers by providing production facilities, tools, local manufacturing partners, specialized know-how and a smoke sauna experience.
The selected works for this call are partly funded by Tartu 2024 European Capital of Culture and Kaunas 2022 European Capital of Culture. One artist will be selected from Lithuania as the residency is co-funded by Kaunas 2022 European Capital of Culture.

Academy in Exile is pleased to announce its 2021–22 artist in residence program with three fellowships of three months each for a filmmaker/videographer, sound artist, and visual artist to work on the theme of Fixing What’s Broken.
Academy in Exile invites applications for the 3-month residency fellowships in Berlin. Eligible are cultural producers who advocate on behalf of human rights, democracy, and the pursuit of free expression and/or who have been displaced because of their professional work.
Monthly Stipend: 2,500 EUR

Deaf Artists Residency Open call 2022 by Anderson Center

The Anderson Center’s Deaf Artists Residency (DAR) is an ASL-centric environment where Deaf artists can communicate and exchange ideas. The program provides 5 Deaf artists the opportunity to come together to live, work and share ideas with other native ASL signers, while advancing their own personal artistic projects.
For the 2022 season, the Anderson Center is only offering month-long residencies in June. Two-week residencies are not an option for the Deaf Artists Residency.

The Comic Art Europe project is preparing to launch a second call for ‘comics’ projects, and again the only constraint is the need to use the comics medium and respond to the theme.
The theme this year is ‘Living together’. Diversity enhances society. Learning about other cultures, being exposed to different values and influences is an enriching experience that broadens the mind and promotes tolerance and the appreciation of difference. Comic Art Europe is asking comics artists to reflect in their own way on ‘living together’ in the modern world. Through true stories or fictional creations, comic book artists are invited to present projects that illustrate their interpretation of ‘living together’ today.
5 projects will be selected . Each selected artist will be awarded a 5000€ grant and a two-week residency in one of the four partner cities of the project (Lyon in France, Brussels in Belgium, Barcelona in Spain and Kendal in England).

State of Fashion

State of Fashion sets out to find makers and practitioners with radical ideas and perspectives, to co-create a collectively commissioned work for the exhibition “Fashion as Encounters” curated by NOT_____ENOUGH Collective as part of State of Fashion 2022 | Ways of Caring.
State of Fashion welcome, but do not limit to, designers, artists, activists, knitters, seamstresses, researchers, educators, performers, photographers, filmmakers, writers, and fashion enthusiasts all over the world. Individuals and groups of any age, nationality and country of residence are invited to send proposals.
The process of co-creation will take place over a period of 4 months and will be moderated by the members of the Not Enough Collective. The process will start in February 2022 and will end in May 2022.
Participants receive a total fee of € 1.500 for their contribution

Film Independent Member Extended Deadline: December 29, 2021

Film Independent is looking for talented filmmakers with documentary projects that are compelling, original and demonstrate a unique vision. Both experienced and first-time directors are welcome to apply.
The Film Independent Documentary Lab accepts applications for nonfiction films or series that will be in late post-production in the spring of 2022. Applicants must submit a work sample which should include a minimum of a polished trailer and scene selects, all the way up to a rough cut. Filmmakers that have yet to complete the majority of principal photography and those that do not yet have any footage assembled are not eligible to apply.

Spark Fund Application 2021
Deadline: December 29, 2021 until 3pm ET

The Spark Fund will provide 36 stipends of $50,000 to selected filmmakers over the period of one year, for their use in alleviating financial hardship and work disruptions endured from the COVID-19 pandemic.
This one-time opportunity, which is underwritten by the National Endowment for the Humanities’ American Rescue Plan Grantmaking initiative, will provide stipends rather than project support to selected filmmakers.
